Greater Berwick is located in Columbia County, southwest of Wilkes-Barre along US Highway 11 on the banks of the Susquehanna River. Berwick residents have easy access to Interstates 80 and 81 and State Routes 93 and 11.

Both Philadelphia and New York City are just 2.5 hours away.

Life… You Gotta Love it!

Chances are, if you know anything about Berwick, Pennsylvania, you've heard about our nationally recognized high school football program. While football is a passion amongst Berwick residents, it's only one aspect to love about this wonderful area.

The Berwick region offers quality education, healthcare, and a variety of recreational and cultural opportunities.

A number of public and parochial elementary and secondary schools provide a wide variety of educational choices for our youth, while opportunities for higher education exist at more than 12 nearby colleges and universities.

The Berwick area is also a great place to work and do business. We pride ourselves on our dedicated, hardworking laborers and two very effective industrial development corporations that go the extra mile to help businesses wishing to locate or expand their operations here.

Recreation

Like we said, if you love football, you'll love our Berwick Bulldogs. The "Dawgs" are the first six-time state champions and became the first high school football team to be named three-time national champs by USA Today.

When it comes to spectator sports in general, there are a wide range of events to attend, with several minor and major league baseball, basketball, hockey and football teams located nearby.

And if golf's your game, you can always hit the greens at the Berwick Golf Club, the International Golf School and Willow Run Inn & Golf Club.

State Game Lands

The Berwick region also lays claim to 19,255 acres of State Game Lands that are managed and maintained by the Pennsylvania Game Commission. This beautiful country makes for exciting hunting but also offers boating, fishing, hiking, bird watching and nature study. During the winter, snowmobiles can be operated in designated areas.

Susquehanna Riverlands

The Susquehanna Riverlands, located just north of Berwick, includes 1,200 acres along the Susquehanna River and provide nature lovers of all types with a fantastic venue for hiking, picnicking, boating, fishing, wildlife viewing or just plain old enjoyment of the sun and fresh air.

Outdoor Amusement

The whole family can also enjoy endless fun at Knoebels Amusement Park, which is a mere 18 miles away. This 75 year-old park has been thrilling patrons for generations and was named the 2nd best amusement park in the country by Amusement Today Magazine.

Healthcare

Berwick Hospital Center, a privately-owned, 169-bed hospital and 240-bed long-term care facility, provides Berwick region residents with outstanding medical care. The facility also includes such outreach services as Home Health Care, Rehabilitation Services, Cardiopulmonary Treatment Center, Occupational Health Services, Community Pharmacy, Emergency and Paramedic Services, Patient and Community Education, Geriatric Psychology Unit and Berwick Recovery Systems.

Berwick Industrial Plan, Inc. (BIP)

Incorporated in 1954, Berwick Industrial Plan, Inc. (BIP) is a for-profit corporation that was formed to help ensure the future economic security of the community.

Today, the purpose of the BIP is to assist in obtaining capital funds for the expansion of established industry and the recruitment of new business and industry into the community. BIP is the oldest economic development agency representing the Berwick Area.

The Berwick area is close to two major airports:

  • Wilkes-Barre Scranton International Airport - 55 min.
  • Lehigh Valley International Airport - 1 hr. 35 min.
