Water utility company and Penn's Northeast member Aqua Pennsylvania announced that it invested $17.8 million in water and wastewater infrastructure upgrades across the Northeastern PA region in 2017, including $2.8 million in Lackawanna County, according to a press release.
One of the company's largest projects involved a $1.3 million investment in South Abington Twp. to replace the Chinchilla Well Station. Crews built a new water storage tank and an emergency generator as part of the project.
Aqua Pennsylvania's local division serves residents in parts of Lackawanna, Lehigh, Luzerne, Monroe, Northampton, Schuylkill, Susquehanna, Wyoming and Carbon counties.
