Berwick, Luzerne County, PA - Chiefs from four area fire departments recently visited Susquehanna Nuclear Power Plant as part of an ongoing training initiative designed to equip both groups with the skills and knowledge to successfully support the needs of the station and community.

Representatives from the departments, all of whom are nationally certified fire instructors from the Pennsylvania State Fire Academy, serve as instructors who continually train Susquehanna's fire brigade, which is recognized as a leader in the nuclear industry. They periodically meet with Susquehanna's on-site fire brigade to offer training using various scenarios within the plant and develop best practices to continually strengthen their joint Emergency Plan. This visit included tours of the station's turbine deck and reactor building and review of equipment and practices associated with these areas.

Fire Chiefs toured the plant and met with station's fire brigade to share ideas and best practices.
