In line with the mission of BIDA (Berwick Industrial Development Association): “The Berwick Industrial Development Association (BIDA) is committed to improving the economy of the region through marketing and managing its industrial assets, the retention, expansion and recruitment of business and industry; and contributing to community revitalization efforts. The Berwick Industrial Development Association will collaborate with quality of life for the citizens in the area.”, the organization has initiated a vocational post-secondary educational scholarship program.
The purpose: To focus on the importance of skilled trades and workforce development in our region and the need for skilled workforce for the businesses that are currently residing in the Berwick Area School District.
The amount: BIDA will offer (2) two scholarships, each for $1,000.00
The use: BIDA understands the cost of supplies for students seeking to further their education in the trades can be costly; therefore, this scholarship can be utilized to purchase equipment and supplies for the program of study the student is entering.
Eligibility: Berwick Area School District Student that is currently enrolled in either the Berwick area high school or enrolled in the Columbia-Montour Area Vocational Technical school, as sent from the Berwick Area School District. Students cannot be an immediate relative of a sitting BIDA board member.

Students will be selected by a scholarship committee made up of a school board member, Berwick area high school staff person, Columbia-Montour area vocational technical school staff person, and the staff of BIDA.
How and when to apply: Students should complete the application and submit to BIDA as listed above and include the required essay no later than, March 20th of the student's senior year.
Notification of awards: Notification of the awards will be made via written correspondence through the USPS postal service and through acceptance of the awards, students agree to have their photograph taken and used in marketing, on the BIDA website and press releases as written and released by BIDA.
