CornellCookson Adding 40 New Jobs To Mountain Top Plant

10.19.2017

Wright Twonship, PA - CornellCookson, a rolling door and grille manufacturer, is creating 40 new jobs.

The company hopes the positions will provide opportunities for families with child care challenges and college students in need of extra income.

Jessica Falatko, vice president of human resources, said the move is in response to an increasing demand for product and the company's commitment to making the best use of its facilities.

“Many of our workers work Monday through Friday and spend weekends with their families,” she said. “We don't want to take a Saturday away from them, when they might want to go and see their children's football game or other activities.”

Falatko said the majority of those additional 40 jobs would require Friday, Saturday and Sunday shifts from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Falatko said company officials envisioned making it possible for parents to have two incomes, while minimizing day care expenses.

“Although the job is only 36 hours a week, it would be considered full time with full-time benefits,” she said. “We're aware of the extra effort it takes to work a 12-hour shift.”

The position, termed “fourth shift,” has already been added to the company's website.

Requirements include the ability to lift 50 pounds and good mechanical and technical aptitude. Prior work experience with sheet metal fabrication is preferred, according to the website.

The positions vary in skill level and include entry-level assembly, welding powder coating and machine operation.

Falatko emphasized the company's commitment to both quality of product and success of its employees.

“Our new fourth shift is a testament to the impact our employee ideas have on our business,” said Andrew Cornell, CEO of CornellCookson, in a press release. “As a family-owned and operated business, we take pride in inviting our employees to play a key role in our success. The development and introduction of this new shift is just one example of how we as a company can improve based on the ideas of all of our associates.”

The plant is located in the Crestwood Industrial Park.
