The Greater Wilkes-Barre Chamber of Business and Industry announced today that three new companies have been approved to become tenants of the Innovation Center @ Wilkes-Barre - the organization's small business incubator, located in Center City Wilkes-Barre.
“We are proud to have these new start-up companies take their first step towards success by enrolling in the Innovation Center @ Wilkes-Barre. They join other start-ups like Optimo Information Technology and Product Solutions, as well established companies like Pepperjam / ebay,” said John L Augustine III, Senior Director.
The three newest Innovation Center tenants are:
- Appalachian Apps, LLC develops custom software for wireless devices. They are currently developing and delivering several products specific to the global entertainment industry. The company has formed significant entertainment industry associations and is on the verge of exponential growth in this un-crowded vertical market. Appalachian Apps recently won multiple competitions sponsored by AT&T and Microsoft at the 2011 International CTIA wireless show. “Appalachian Apps, LLC's ownership of Intellectual Property, with advances in application development and mobile device expertise on all mobile platforms, puts us ahead of the competition,” said CEO/Founder, Michael Martinez. Resumes are currently being accepted for iOS and Android programmers.
- BlueView Northeast is a full service digital marketing agency focused on helping companies reach success in digital, social and mobile marketing in Pennsylvania, New York and New Jersey, using strategic, creative and technical capabilities across a wide range of businesses. “At BlueView, we offer a compliment of business, creative and technical expertise to develop and execute complete marketing strategies across today's digital landscape. These strategies are aligned with measurable business objectives,” explains Bryant Bynum, BlueView Principal discussing BlueView's approach to website development and social media solutions. “We are proud to be a new member to the Wilkes-Barre business community and pleased to be able to take advantage of the Chamber's Innovation Center.”
- eCoCarts has a simple mission: leverage eco-friendly and online web innovation to connect people with the communities they live in by providing online ordering and delivery of their favourite products. eCoCarts technology allows local businesses and people to place orders online and then provide delivery of the products using the website's innovative online menu which are then delivered by their environmentally friendly fleet of vehicles.
“With any new technology business, having a culture of collaboration and innovation is a vital ingredient to success. The Innovation Center provides an environment to create a dynamic culture,” said CEO and serial entrepreneur James Abrams.
“When homegrown businesses can successfully grow and provide goods and services to markets beyond the Wyoming Valley, our local economy also grows in size and strength,” stated Larry Newman, the Chamber's Vice President of Policy, Planning, and Development. “Appalachian Apps, eCoCarts, and BlueView Northeast all possess that promise, and we believe that the ICWB program will help each of them to achieve their long-term business goals.”
The Innovation Center @ Wilkes-Barre (ICWB), located at 7 South Main Street in downtown Wilkes-Barre, is a multi-tenant facility that houses the Chamber's small business/technology incubator, class “A” office space, and the Barnes & Noble Wilkes/King's Bookstore. Current ICWB tenant businesses employ over 100 people; and plans are now underway to begin construction of an expansion facility on the same block of South Main Street in the spring of 2012.
