Logistics Company Locating to Pittston Township

Pittston Twp., Luzerne County, PA - Saddle Creek Corporation, a logistics provider, will soon open a beverage distribution center in the Grimes Industrial Park, a company spokesperson said Tuesday.

Tom Collins, senior director of marketing at Saddle Creek, said the company will take occupancy of the near-250,000 square-foot facility soon and will begin distribution for a local beverage company, which he declined to name.

Collins said he did not know how many people will be working at the facility.

Saddle Creek will lease the building from One Liberty Properties Inc., which recently acquired the distribution center that sits on 21.8 acres for $12 million. A news release from One Liberty said Saddle Creek has net-leased the warehouse through 2022. The current annual base rent under the lease agreement is listed at approximately $911,000 with annual increases of 2.5 percent.

“The Pittston facility adds another high quality industrial facility to our portfolio at an attractive price,” stated Patrick J. Callan Jr., president and CEO of One Liberty. “The property is well located off two interstate highways in close proximity to an international airport in a densely populated area offering a strong labor force. The tenant has been in business for 50 years and has grown to be one of the largest privately held logistics providers in North America.”

Collins said Saddle Creek provides warehouse logistics for numerous clients. He said the company was founded in 1966 and is headquartered in Lakeland, Florida. Saddle Creek leases some 17 million square feet of space all over the country.

“We operate facilities from southern California to Pittston and from Florida to Seattle,” Collins said.

The company often operates a fleet of trucks at its sites, but there are no plans to put a fleet in the Pittston Township location at this time.
