WI-based Paper Company Expands in Monroe County

Northwoods Paper Converting (NPC) of Beaver Dam, WI opened a 247,987-square-foot facility in East Stroudsburg, Monroe County. The company purchased and converted the former Excel Storage Products building.
NPC provides paper converting services to paper mills, printers and merchants. The new location will be used to convert rolls of paper into sheets of paper. The company anticipates employing 40 at the Monroe County location by the end of 2012 and currently employs 100 at their Beaver Dam, WI location. NPC was established in 1999.
"The new PA location is the company's first expansion and was chosen to better serve their customers in the Northeast Region of the US," commented Chuck Leonard, Executive Director of Pocono Mountains Economic Development Corporation. "We are pleased they selected Monroe County for the expansion. It is great to see an empty building being used again and we welcome the jobs they will create here."
The project was coordinated by the Governor's Action Team and Pocono Mountains Industries, Inc. The Commonwealth of PA 's incentive package included a $2 million Pennsylvania Industrial Development Authority loan to acquire and renovate the building. In addition, NPC received a $1,331,300 funding offer from the PA Department of Community and Economic Development including a $150,000 Pennsylvania First grant, $148,000 in Job Creation Tax Credits, $33,330 in job training assistance and a $1 million loan from the Machine and Equipment Loan Fund.
The company will invest over $8 million and create at least 74 new jobs in three years.
