Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Airport Launches New Loyalty Program

07.26.2019

Avoca, Luzerne County, PA - The local airport will begin a new loyalty program July 31 that can earn its regular customers free parking, airline miles or gift cards airport restaurants.

My AVP Loyalty Program members will earn a point for every dollar spent on parking at the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International Airport, known officially to federal aviation regulators as AVP. Member rewards depend on accumulated points.

During an airport board meeting Thursday, not long after announcing another record month for passenger departures, airport director Carl Beardsley Jr. said the airport came up with the loyalty card program in hopes of exceeding customer expectations.

“We like to not rest on our laurels,” Beardsley said. “What this program does is it rewards people for using the airport often. The more you use the airport, the more likely you are to receive some of the rewards that we offer people.”

The rewards work like this:

  • 100 points: one day free parking in any airport open-air lot.

  • 140 points: one day free garage parking.

  • 250 points: $25 gift card to the airport's Dunkin' Donuts, Lucky's Craft Food & Drink restaurant or the Tipsy Turtle Airport Pub.

  • 600 points: one week free parking in any open-air lot.

  • 840 points: one week free garage parking.

  • 2,000 points: 2,000 miles for Delta Air Lines, American Airlines or United Airlines frequent flyer programs.

Loyalty program members also will get an automated card that allows them to use an express check-out lane in airport parking lots or garage, Beardsley said. The card will automatically charge a member's credit card and tally the points accumulated for that visit.

“They don't have to stop, give somebody a credit card and then get the credit card back and then leave the parking lot,” he said. “It's another way for people to leave the airport as quickly as possible to make sure that they're getting the best experience that we can give them.”

Airport customers may enroll online by visiting MyAVPRewards.com. They should receive their loyalty cards within a week. Full instructions for redeeming the points are also on the website.

Airport board members praised the program's development.

“This is exactly the kind of next level thinking we didn't have before,” board member David Pedri said.
